The Mystery of the Two #24s
Posted on 15 September 2008 6 commentsToday I picked up two of the latest Undercover Brothers volumes: Deprivation House (#22, May 2008) and Haunted—which was initially advertised as Super Mystery #3 but was released as #24, “Special Ghost Stories Edition,” even though what was advertised as #24 is Murder House, the third book in the Murder House Trilogy. What am I missing? The new books don’t have the series number on the cover or the spine, so I can’t tell by looking at books that haven’t been released yet, but Barnes & Noble actually lists both books as #24. Is this a glitch in the system or did Simon & Schuster change their minds at the last minute to coincide with the new Nancy Drew: Girl Detective Ghost Stories?

I really confused about the number of ”Haunted” too…in fact I’m not even sure what UB series it’s in!

I missing the sidebar though. Will that be returning? At the moment I have to search the site to find anything.

It looks as though the 24 was inserted in error. /Haunted/ was initially marketed as Super Mystery #3. It now appears as an unnumbered addition to the series, with the number clearly there by mistake because the next book was also listed as 24.

No sidebar? Uh-oh. It should be there–at least, it appears on my computer, which is a Mac. So far it’s limited to “Blog,” “Book-Length Studies,” and “Site Map,” followed by blog categories, blog archives, and a few meta things. Do these not appear on your computer?
I’ll also check to make sure everything appears as it should on a PC.

Yes, the limited sidebar is showing, it’s just that at first I thought the links were just blog related…although I like the old sidebar better, the blog is real improvement.

Thanks! I haven’t finished importing everything from the old site yet. I wasn’t able to duplicate the collapsing sidebar from the old one, so the links will be divided by main section: Hardy Boys, Nancy Drew, Tom Swift, etc. And then there will be one main page for each character that links to every series in which they’ve appeared.
